Edmonton Minor Soccer | History | EMSA Spruce Grove

History

Spruce Grove Soccer was established in 1977 – formed as a society and then registered in Alberta in 1981. The objectives, as stated in the Bylaws upon formation, were to foster the development of the game of Association Football (sometimes called Soccer), in the Town of Spruce Grove. Changes have occurred since inception, the game is now always called soccer, the town is now a City, however, the objectives have not changed.

Soccer in Spruce Grove has grown from approximately 190 participants in 1981 to an enrollment of well over a 1000 in the 2014 summer outdoor season and an anticipated increase for the winter indoor program.

Mission

A mission statement describes what the organization does – the reason it exists. While there are many things the organization
may do, the mission statement clearly states the purpose of the organization.
The mission of the Spruce Grove Soccer Association is….
…to provide soccer programming for all ages in the Spruce Grove and surrounding area in which participants enhance their personal fitness as well as their soccer skills and
knowledge.
