PAYMENT

I registered for premier (club), but the community fee is showing. Why isn’t it showing the premier fee? Did I register correctly?

All players are automatically charged the community fee. If they are placed on a premier team after tryouts, the amount owing will be changed in their account and you will be asked to pay a top up fee.

How can I pay registration fees?

Payment can be made via e-transfer to payments@saintsfc.ca, by credit card by calling (780) 962-5111 or visiting the office during office hours.

I’m having trouble paying for registration. What options do I have?

We want to have kids playing, that is the whole purpose of our organization. If you are having difficulty paying, please contact info@saintsfc.ca to arrange for a payment plan.

PROGRAMMING

What is the difference between in house, community and premier?

In-house is a program that competes through SGSA. All games and practices are in Spruce Grove. In house consists of one practice and one game a week. Practices are usually on the weekend. In-house programing is only available for U9 and U11.

Community is a program that competes through EMSA (Edmonton Minor Soccer Association). Practices are in Spruce Grove, games can be in Spruce Grove and/or Edmonton. Community teams have one practice a week. During the indoor season, community teams play one game a week. During the outdoor season, there is one practice a week and two games per week.

Premier is a program that competes through EMSA (Edmonton Minor Soccer Association). Practices are in Spruce Grove, games can be in Spruce Grove and/or Edmonton. Premier teams have two practices a week and a game. They may have weeks where they have two games.

Premier teams also have tech sessions, sessions led by an outside vendor during their season. Their team officials will decide what type of vendor and how many sessions their team will receive.

VOLUNTEERING

What’s a volunteer deposit fee?

A volunteer deposit fee is an amount that you pay at the start of registration. We ask for only one deposit per family.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on volunteers to help us with many different tasks, including coaching, managing teams, acting as directors, coordinators, helping with equipment return, special events, and season prep. Our volunteer shifts, other than team official, are only four hours long and there are opportunities throughout the year.

EMSA (Edmonton Minor Soccer Association) also requires that we provide volunteers during their annual events like City Finals, Provincials, and other tournaments.

What’s a “decline to volunteer fee”?

A decline to volunteer fee can be paid during the office if a family does not to complete a volunteer shift. Each family only pays one decline to volunteer fee.

What counts as a volunteer shift?

A volunteer shift is any volunteer opportunity that benefits Spruce Grove Soccer Association. This includes acting as a team official for a season, completing a volunteer shift that is posted on social media or sent to you via email.

Helping out in a way that only benefits your team, other than acting as a team official, does not count as your volunteer shift. We appreciate when parents help a coach during practice, act as referee liaison or a bench attendant, help set up and take down nets and equipment. These do not count as volunteer shifts though.

Parents who are interested in becoming team officials once the season has already started will need to reach out to individual teams to see if they need any more officials first. They will also need to complete a criminal record check and be officially registered as a team official for their involvement to count as a volunteer shift.

How do I find out about volunteer opportunities?

Volunteer opportunities are emailed to people who signed up to volunteer and posted on social media. If you haven’t heard about a volunteer opportunity midway into the season, please contact the office to ensure the correct email address is on file.

When do I get my volunteer deposit back?

Once you complete your volunteer shift, you will receive your volunteer fee deposit within a week or two. Sometimes when we are refunded large numbers of volunteers, it may take up to 20 days.

Team officials receive their volunteer deposit back at the end of the season.

SCHEDULE

Why does it take so long to get a set schedule?

When we create our schedule, it is dependent on a couple of different factors:

Availabilty of Space

SGSA is allocated certain times at the TriLeisure Centre and practices can only be scheduled during those times.

EMSA’s Game Schedule

All of our club teams and community teams, U13 and up, play with other teams in the Edmonton area through EMSA. We need to build our schedule around these game times.

Team Tiering

During our tryouts and player placements, our coaches and evaluators need to determine what level our teams will play at. Different tiers play at different times and we can’t determine practice times until we know game schedules.

Creating a schedule around player and team resources

Schedules are created around a team’s availability. Teams play on different days and their coaches are available on different days. Both these factors need to be taken into account when practice schedules are created. These factors are only known after tryouts from premier teams and community preseason training.
